June 13

The 13th day of June of course is a very special day. Early that morning I had my first cry and sensed what it meant to be in caring hands from a very warm world of matrix. I yelled and see all these big eyes bulging at mine tiny form. It was the morning of June 13.
Come 1993 in Nigeria, a day previous, one of the most peaceful election ever conducted on Earth was held. Men and kids alike jumped into jubilation for the one that was thought the messiah. Alas, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola was not only denied his mandate but also became endangered. Not too long, the man had to die for what he believed.
My day is a direct Post June 12 - a day presently reserved to rethink the idea and the ideals of democracy in Nigeria.
Several citizens are wondering what the future holds for the tender we-we-governance in Nigeria. As Shaw had enjoined us, we need no fear or wonder but hail Nigeria and the Nigerian dream:
Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
our sovereign motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol,
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honoured,
And this we count as gain
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain

O Lord of all creation,
Grant this our one request
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so, with peace and plenty,
Nigeria may be blessed.

Do we need any other wondering thought? Let us truly hail Nigeria:no hide-and-seek, no shade or shady deals, no stain, no oppression - see if Nigeria will not hail us. The truth will even resurrect and there can be another Easter in June. My day has been full of some quiet and deep solitude on hailing somebody, even Nigeria on June 13.

Our outlook matters. This website is nice, yet I feel the menu drops could be left to the member filling to fill-in at will, instead of having stereotyped content or information. An example is when I was trying to edit my profile. I noticed a very few schools in Nigeria were presented. Nigeria has over 200 Universities and such related schools offering degrees or one diploma or the other.

Members could be asked to volunteer by sending list of educational institutions - religious schools inclusive for TIG to have a broad spectrum of people who could find the community welcoming and conducive.

Do It Now!

About this commitment: Stop procrastinating
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

A man that would live 70years would have spent 25,000 hours! Knowing the shortness of time, I have none to waste on no thing in this world. Every tick on the clock counts and very soon it would be time no more. Therefore, I do whatever I have to do now. Procrastination is the thief of time.Little wonder so many young people do very little when young. Do all you can, now that you can, for those you can, in places you can. Now, when you can. So, do it now!

Plastics, Nigeria

About this commitment: Reducing the amount of plastic I use
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

This is a difficult commitment I am making. But I have done it. Nigeria is a typical non-welfare State where citizens mostly living below $1 per day struggle hard to earn a living. Extensive use of this product emerged in the 90s when water for public consumption was re-branded in 500g bags. This was seen as a more hygienic and economic way of presenting portable water for travellers or people on the road compared to the former style of hand-knotting this water nylon bags. More so, the large number of people hawking this water bags are young people who find it an alternative. Any loud campaign against plastics in my country as at this morning is a sin against humanity. What environment does a hungry man care for when he will be very angry. Even the manufacturers of this product are mostly small scale or cottage industries who are barely living above subsistence. I desire a world of less or zero non-biodegradables. Therefore, I suggest we find an alternative if we are TAKING AWAY what the people believe in.

Knowledge is solution

About this commitment: Sharing my knowledge with others
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Some people I have met hardly pass on knowledge, especially indigenous knowledge. But, I see a world where best practices takes us to places higher than this plane or planet. Knowledge shared is knowledge-solution. A little here, a little there - we working gradually towards a better world....
